User Submitted PalmOne m130 Handheld Reviews (cont...)Date: 2003-04-03 Love it -- My first Palm Handheld I recently recieved this item as an anniversary gift (I chose). I've never had a PDA before, but have used them before. I absolutely love this thing! I'm not having any problems with it at all. Many people, from what I've read, have problems with the stylus working near the edges of the screen. I'm not having any such problems (maybe I'm just lucky). I would highly recommend this, especially to people that have never had a PDA before. Very easy to master. Date: 2003-04-01 Great for first timers I bought my Palm M130, my first PDA. I was looking for color and memory space. I have no complaints so far. I am very satisfied with it's performance. I have received "fatal error" messages 2 times, but does not appear to have lost any data or caused any damage to my PDA, so I'm not concerned. Date: 2003-03-30 Cost Effective Solution The Palm m130 has a sharp, bright screen, which can be used in any light conditions. The provided software provides an effective platform for storing MS applications for easy access during presentations or meetings. Palm also offers an extensive array of applications that are easily downloadable. The only complaint I have is the 8 MB of memory supplied, but upgrading the memory still makes this unit a hundred dollars less than other competing color models Date: 2003-03-27 Great For Students I bought this along with the GoType keyboard after getting hand cramps while writing notes in classes. Typing notes beats writing them by a mile! THe PDA has worked flawlessly, and the display is easy to read in room light. It is quite difficult to view in sunlight, but I didn't purchase it for outside use, really. There is so much useful free or inexpensive software available for the Palm OS too! The only downside I can think of is that 16MB of memory would have been much better than 8MB, but there is a firm that will upgrade the PDA to 16MB for $100, so there is hope. Also, the ROM is not flashable, so future OS updates are not possible. Overall, a great value. Date: 2003-03-18 Rebate hell About the m130. It is a fun gadget, though I am experiencing screen envy with other PDAs that have larger screens. When you put on the clear screen cover, to protect against scratching, the stylus sensitivity is greatly diminished. I still miss my good old fashioned hand written datebook. The Palm m130 is helpful for telephones and addresses--though initially you have to enter all the data manually. Also, any add ons have to be bought, there are few free-bees.
