fantastic item
I use my m515 religiously... It does everything I could want it to do. And, it integrates with Mac OS X without a problem. It synchronizes with iCal, Address Book, and Mail using Apple's iSync Conduit and the AppleMail Conduit. If you use Microsoft Entourage, it works with that too. Apart from managing my schedule and contacts, I use mine to take notes in class, play games, or even read books (on long car trips or flights). It even has a vibrating alert to get your attention if you're in class or in a meeting. Despite its size, the little wonder is extremely rugged. You won't hurt it by dropping it. And, it's very comfortable in your hand. I highly recommend this to anyone, particularly very active people always on the go.

A great color PDA w/ Palm OS
Upgraded from a Handspring Visor Edge to the m515. After doing the research I decided to stick with the Palm OS but change brands for a number of reasons. (1) The m515 comes with the full version of Datviz Documents to Go (not premium version which you can upgrade to) which you will need if you want to make your Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files portable; (2) I wanted a color screen but did not want to spend over $250. I wish the screen was high res (320 x 320 pixels) but I can live without that. Some of the Pocket PC models have great high res screens but I am not convinced that their synchronization abilities are as seamless as Palm's; (3) It is a piece of art in itself combining form and function.

I bought the extended warranty from Palm for $40 since there seems to be some design issues with this model.

Sick of Palm's Sudden-Death thing--Switching to BlackBerry
This is the third Palm I've had in four years. I used to be a huge fan. I took good care of my Palm and told everyone how great it was. Then the first two Palms-- first one, then the other within a year--just STOPPED WORKING from one second to the next, and nothing from Tech Support could bring them back to life. Of course, this Sudden Death happened while I was traveling (the first time) and moving (the second time) so until I could get back to my computer, I was royally screwed for committing everything to Palm! Thinking the PDAs might have died because they were in constant use and a couple of years old, I bought a brand new Palm m515 in May: I had an international move coming up and didn't want the problem to happen again. In August (in the middle of the move, with the desktop in storage for two months-- thanks Palm) it also just suddenly stopped working. Several months later, after many, many phone calls and emails, I received a new m515 cost-free. I coddled it! Funny how the battery kept draining. However, three weeks ago HotSync suddenly stopped working from one hour to the next, even though absolutely nothing has changed on my system. No one has been able to fix it. The advice from Palm has been less than useless. I have heard too many stories like mine about Palm. I am switching to paper for now and if I get another handheld, it won't be a Palm.

Palm is a no no
I have had this 515 six months and am returning it to palm a second time for the same reason, it simply dies. I took very good care of it. The first time it took forever to get a replacement, and i had to have our IT manager deal with them as they would not even give me a return authorization code so I could return it. I am finished with Palm, the technology on there end is unimpressive compared to what Dell is doing (Axim pocket PC), and Dell is MUCH easier to deal with. I am returning everything to Palm with a letter, we will see what happens, and if they stand behind there efforts..... I should also mention this is my second Palm, and I am not going for strike three...........

I was happy with my m515 once upon a time
When I first purchased my m515, I was very happy with it. In less than 3 months I have become very unhappy. I upgraded from a Palm V. In fact, I was so happy with it I purchased one for my son as a gift. Now I feel I purchased him a lemon. My m515 would discharge rapidly. I have a hard case and have found out that the case somehow turns the Palm on. I am not sure how this happens. Also, my m515 would not charge. I called Tech Support and found out I had to do a hard reset to get it to charge. Make sure you do a sync before you do this or you will lose all your data. After I did this it charged and I did a sync. Then I tried to use my Franklin PDR card that came with my Palm. It kept giving me fatal exception errors. Another call to Tech Support and I was told I had to do a hard reset to get the card to work. It did work after I did a hard reset. So I did another sync. And my card worked this time. After a day or two my m515 had completely discharged and would not charge. Another call to tech support. This time they told me I could send it in for repair or spend 39 dollars and they would send me a replacement and a return envelope and label to send my original m515 back. I chose to do that. The new one came. It charged and when I turned it on there was considerable color distortion on the screen which I found to be totally unaccepable. I went ahead and decided to do a sync. The day after I got it I needed to use my Franklin PDR card to look up some information. I got a fatal exception error. I also found my m515 on when I would open the hard case. I did a hard reset and my PDR card would work. Another call to Palm Tech Support. My unhappiness was the color distortion, the fact it would come on in the hard case, and the fact that I had to do hard resets to use my PDR. Solution. Palm.com is sending me another m515 after I send in my second m515. They informed me to keep my original m515 until I get the second replacement then I am to send it back. Tech support has been helpful and they are trying to resolve my issues. I should have read more of the reviews on this product before I spent... dollars for mine and another ... for my sons gift. I purchased my m515 from www.palm.com. I have a number of third party software on my m515 and tech support said one may be causing the problem. Well, they should warn purchasers of this software ahead of time. There is no way to delete individual software to see which one is causing the problem. I am a college professor of chemistry and rely on my system for appointments and other programs I need for my profession. Overall, I am unhappy with my m515, but I will give credit to Palm Tech Support for attempting to resolve my issues. It is just very inconvenient. I have since gone back to my Palm V which has proven to be reliable. It just doesn't have the benefits of the m515 that I need. If you have issues with any of your Palm products don't try to get resolution through their email support system. All they will do is send you an email and tell you to call tech support and provide you with the number. Then why do they have email tech support. It makes no sense. I am pretty disgusted and disappointed at this time in my system. I still have other software that I haven't installed for fear that it will cause additional issues. ...
