The USB Charger Cradle is the optional charger for the Targus Wireless Optical Mini Mouse. It's the ideal solution that addresses high power consumption issues faced by all wireless optical mice. The majority of wireless optical mice require frequent battery replacement (every 1 to 3 months depending on usage) leaving it up to you to ensure there are spare batteries on hand. Targus is the first name-brand mini mouse vendor to provide a logical solution to this problem. The Charger Cradle works as a cradle/docking station for the Wireless Mouse. It connects to the laptop/desktop PC via a USB cord and provides a connection/shelter to the thumb-sized USB wireless receiver via a built-in USB port. When the Wireless Mini Mouse is used on the desktop, it transmits RF signal to the USB receiver that fits in the Charger Cradle, and sends signal to the laptop/desktop PC. When not in use, the Wireless Mouse can dock in the charger cradle for recharging, guaranteeing that your batteries are always completely charged. When traveling, there are 2 ways to go. For short trips or light usage, take along the thumb-sized USB wireless receiver and the fully charged mouse, which is good for 1 to 2 months depending on usage. For long trips and heavy, continuous usage, you can take along the charger cradle, thumb-sized USB receiver and the mouse, which assures you a fully-operational mouse no matter where you go and for however long you use it.

Definitely, a Needed Addition!
This docking cradle is such a useful addition to the Targus laser mini-mouse that it surprises me that Targus doesn't sell both units in a combined package, especially as the mouse itself doesn't have an on-off switch and will not "go-to-sleep" unless it remains connected to your computer during and after shutting down operations, a glaring oversight on the part of the designers, when the unit is used with notebooks, especially in portable mode, which requires removing one or both batteries to turn the unit off for transport.
Not only does the dock provide a base for the mouse when not in use, as well as keeping the included Ni-Cad batteries charged, but it actually seems to act as an extention antenna for the receiver, extending the range of the mouse to it's advertized 36" range. Without the dock, I have never seemed to be able to achieve the claimed operational range.
This accessory is such a useful addition, I bought two for use with my mouse, one for home and another for work!

You must buy this product if you have Targus Wireless mouse
You must buy this product if you have Targus Wireless mouse. Without cradle batteries have to be changed about every month or two. When I bought this cradle I thought that I will charge my mouse using USB. This is not true. Cradle should be actually plugged both in the outlet and into USB. As a result, I have now much more wires around my computer that I would have if I have bought just usual mouse. If you have a mouse, buy a cradle. If you are looking for a mouse do not buy wireless.
