User Submitted PalmOne Tungsten T3 Handheld Reviews (cont...)Date: 2004-09-21 Good PDA, Bad Product Support I've had this pda for 7 months now and everything is quite OK except that their phone driver support is really bad. It's either Palmone doesn't have the capability to keep-up with the latest mobile phones or they just simply don't care. Based on their latest Phone_Link_Update (can be found in Palmone's website) file, the latest mobile phone that this device can seamlessly integrate with using bluetooth is the 6310i (from nokia) and T-610 (from Sony-Ericsson). So given this fact, by the time they provide correct phone drivers for the current models, newer ones would have come-up and chances are, you are about to change your phone. So, if you plan on using this PDA (or probably any PDA from Palm) to read/send SMS or dial your phone, either patiently wait for Palm to come-up with the driver for your latest phone or or buy an old phone OR buy a pocket pc instead. I emailed palmone support twice, but got nothing out of it... they even asked me to contact my phone's manufacturer (nokia in my case) so that they (nokia) could ask them (palmone) to create the driver... how convinient... As for the other not-so-good stuff, the travel charger connection at the bottom of this PDA tends to loose contact easily... this translates to: Don't use this device while charging using the travel charger... another thing is the extended portion of the screen tends to slip back into small-screen position almost with a slightest bump (unless your holding this PDA without any casing, thus being able to support the extended screen with your hand). The good stuff: -> battery life is good. -> bundled apps is good, especially "Documents To Go" it has support for Word, Powerpoint and Excel -> synchronization is not a problem. -> Bluetooth: but only if you can use it with some other device Date: 2004-09-11 The Best Gadget I've Bought All Year! This has been a great purchase for me! I have had my Tungsten T3 for about three weeks now, and it has been wonderful! I am a school psychology intern in a school district where money is hard to come by, and computers are too. Being able to put all my documents (especially ones for school, and my portfolio) on my Palm and work on them anywhere I want to has been great. I can keep track of my hours, work on reports, you name it and I do it all on my Palm. I also keep track of appointments and parent meetings, phone numbers, when I need to test students, and it's all in one place at my fingertips -- not in the trunk of my car with everything else, or in my other school! Everyday I learn something new about it, like that the to do list actually coincides with the calendar feature now, my ancient handspring did nothing of the sort. IN A NUTSHELL: It's a great PDA that if you look around for deals you can get cheaper than you might think, and with a SD card, your possibilties are endless! Date: 2004-09-09 Junk I have now spent 7 hours searching the Palm help database, and speaking to customer service. Nothing is helping to have the Palm sync to my computer. My wife's T3 syncs fine to both hers and mine. My new T3 won't connect at all and the customer service guy told me to call Microsoft. I also agree with a previous post that Palm should give clear instructions for upgrading. I only stumbled upon the instructions buried in the Palm support pages. Too late though... I already installed the software. I will go back to my M515 and return my T3. I just don't want to be around when my wife's T3 starts to die. Customer service is not nice people trying to help... it is providing reliable products! Date: 2004-09-03 Too bad about the service... Don't buy this! The service has been horrible. After about 2 months a couple of the screws fell out of the device. After waiting on hold for 30 minutes... I got a promise that they would send me the screws... no problem except... they never came. A month later... called again... another 30 minutes later another promise to send the screws... AGAIN SCREWED!!! They never came. 3rd time... on hold for 1 hour before giving up! So, here I am with a $500 paperweight that's falling apart. There are other SERIOUS reasons not to buy this product. Have a hard look at the Blackberry (www.blackberry.com). Its a much better product used by most professionals who require worldwide email and phone service, calender, and other great features. As soon as I can get those screws (if ever), I'm going to sell my Palm. Here is my promise to Palm... I'll never buy another Palm product again. Date: 2004-08-20 Great product I went with this product because I had the Palm V previously. I read somewhere that the vast majority of PDA users have the Palm operating system and thus there is more software for it. The display is wonderful and it is very fast. I highly recommend it. The E is very nice too. I bought it for a gift
