User Submitted Apple iPod 20 GB White M9282LL/A (4th Generation) OLD MODEL Reviews (cont...)Date: 2006-07-21 Poor Customer Service I loved my iPod, for the nine months that I had it. I used the Monster FM transmitter, and the two were great for the long road trips involved in my job. My only concerns were (1) that the screen became scratched almost immediately, until I realized that a cover is a necessity with iPods. (I understand the Zen's screen is slightly recessed to avoid that problem.) The second concern was that the process of putting my CD's onto the iPod was a bit involved, and sometimes did not work. All in all, however, I loved my 20gb iPod. The reason I will never purchase another iPod has to do with the customer service. I was VERY CAREFUL with my iPod, coddling it with its own case and pocket in my purse, purchasing a cell phone carrier for my dash and using it to hold my iPod rather than let it bounce around in the car, gently plugging and unplugging the wires to recharge and download...but it still "broke." The screen went black, but I can still hear music - just can't see the list to know which song is playing. After paying $30+ to iPod to send it in for repair, I got my broken unit back with a note that the screen is not covered for repair. I was willing to pay for the repair, but I'm not willing to spend another $300 on something that might not even last a year. I'm doing the research, and intend to purchase the best competitor in the field that is NOT an iPod. Date: 2006-06-26 Great transaction No problem, I was able to afford a great IPod at a reasonnable price. Thanks to the seller, he delivered what he advertized. Date: 2006-06-20 A+++++ This is the best item ever! I bought it for my husband's birthday and can't believe I paid only $240 for it. It holds 5000 songs, he's only got 1500 songs on it so there's plenty of room to spare. It's easy to use. I'm so jealous I want one of my own. It's very easy to take your cd's and put them in the Itunes library, which then downloads onto your Ipod. Buying individual songs or cd's from Itunes is as easy as a click of the mouse. Buying through ITunes guarantees they'll play on your Ipod whereas not all downloaded songs will. You can make a playlist on your computer to be downloaded on your Ipod or directly on the Ipod itself. It has a rechargeable battery that allows you to plug the Ipod directly into an electrical outlet so there's no need to change batteries. Date: 2006-06-16 Do not wast your money. I bought an 20gb Ipod one year ago, in that time I have had to send it back to apple three times. Poor quality. Date: 2006-06-16 iPods Crash much too often We own 3 MP3 players in our family: 1 20GB iPod mono, 1 60GB iPod Color Photo and a 30GB Creative Jukebox Zen. Both iPods have been very unreliable. The 20GB crashed much too often and finally completely quit working after about 18 months. The battery still works but the hard drive seems to have given up the ghost. I've tried to install new software but the hard drive just sits and clicks. The 60GB iPod crashes about once a month and has to be re-set. Sometimes it won't fast forward: it just jumps to the next track. It crashed once on an airline flight and it wouldn't re-set until the charger was plugged in, which was very disappointing. The Creative Jukebox Zen is the oldest of the 3 and is owned by my 19 year old daughter. She is very rough on things but the Zen has never crashed even though it has several dents from abuse. Our opinions are that the iPods look cool and have a great interface, but are not nearly as reliable as the Zen. We plan on replacing the 20GB iPod with a Creative Zen: I just wished that the Zen Vision had a 60GB hard drive.
