User Submitted HP iPAQ RX3115 Pocket PC Reviews (cont...)Date: 2005-04-07 High hopes, but low on my list. I saw the features in the rx3100 series iPaq and was really impressed so I bought it, but it was impossible to use! I was "trading up" from my Handspring Prism that had gotten me through the past three years. I was expecting the same reliability from a Windows CE pocket pc, but for the 25 days I was trying out this device, it required two soft and one hard resets from regular use, did not play a single piece of music, and did not connect to any of the numerous WiFi networks I am around. I even set up a wireless access point from my computer, but still nothing except a frozen Pocket PC. The preloaded applications and Windows CE environment caused some pretty poor performance and during the 25 days I was tring to "move in" to this Pocket PC, I kept going back to my trusty Palm OS handheld. I'm quite technically saavy and can figure out most of my devices, but even after reading both included manuals, websites, and help files, could not get any of the features advertised to work properly. Also, unless you want to USE all features, this device is useless as it requires full use for any functions to work properly, like always being around a WiFi connection and using music purchasing websites. On the up-side, the display was beautiful and the remote control feature was very powerful and flexible. Out of the box it's a great little computer, and granted if I had about a year to troubleshoot it, upgrade the RAM, and change the OS, it's a good product, but for my money, I'm sticking to the Palm OS, it's a lot more reliable and delivers everything it promises. -Jeremy Date: 2005-03-20 Pretty Good Unit This is my second palm pilot, and first pocket PC. Overall I am very satisfied. The wireless B and Bluetooth features are great. I am not a big fan of the calendar feature. It does not preview events well. Go ahead and buy it, you'll be happy. Date: 2005-03-15 other than 4MB available ROM, all the rest are good! I bought it as upgrade of H1945 this little package has double wireless (bt and 802.11b), they're working pretty well, on the bt side, it works perfectly with nokia 6230; on wifi side, it has good range with netgear super G router (used as ap), though it has internal antenna the screen looks great, however, it looks darker than H1945 when the backlight is off the included earphones is better than nothing (I don't need it anyways) the most impressive is...battery time! it has 60% more time even with 920mA/h battery, compared with H1945; with 1440mA/h battery, I can get more than double running time, amazing! the only thing I don't like is user-available ROM, it has only 4MB, that limits you the applications you can install, even though the audio, video, and backup file can be stored on SD card I'd give 97/100 point good: long battery time no more yellowish LCD like H1945/4155 pretty loud speaker exceptional bt and wifi performance not good: only 4MB ROM for user earphone is better than nothing ipaq media is not good (install freeware GSPlayer is recommended) note: do full backup once a week, to prevent any unfortunate happens Date: 2005-02-27 It does everything! A great little media package... I love this device! It has it all. It's my mp3 player and my portable photo/video album. This is how I show my friends, family, and co-workers my pictures, video clips, and share music. I have several SD cards and swap them between this device and my HP R707 camera (which also rocks!) When I go to events, I take pictures and video with the HP camera, then swap the SD card right into this iPAQ and show a slideshow to people on the spot. It's a real "wow", and technology at its most fun. Way to go HP! Update: I just downloaded the program "DVD to Pocket PC", and now I can easily transfer my DVDs onto the iPAQ, as Windows Media files. Now I can travel with my favorite video. Right now, I have 2 tv episodes and a movie saved on one 512K SD card. Date: 2005-02-22 Great Pocket PC, would recommend Agree with everyone above on the good things. Cons-Be prepared to learn things on your own if you are using this for a business PDA. I was really disappointed to find NO instruction manual for how to use the product. The only manual included is for the media portion. The other thing I agree with is the close and ok button is the same so you will need to go in and check your memory often to close unused programs. I am hoping they come out with an update for that. Overall I am pleased with the product and recommend it for others. It's a nice upgrade from my Palm 3C !
