User Submitted SanDisk 1 GB MP3 Player Silver Reviews (cont...)Date: 2006-05-28 so-so. A lot of little annoyances turn this otherwise passable mp3 player into a hassle. It takes about 20-30 seconds to turn on. It doesn't immediately start playing so you have to hit play again after it starts. It doesn't remember the volume you last set. It has a quirk with the sorting of wma drm files. I loaded a drm-ed audiobook onto it with filenames in the form of "audobook-##.wma", but the files were ordered randomly. It was fairly difficult to find out which file I wanted to play next, because the filename scrolling is poorly designed and incredibly slow at the fastest speed setting. The radio and voice recording features are useless. The controls can be difficult to use and the menus are a tangled labyrinth of despair. I wish I had bought a different mp3 player, but it's not bad enough that I have to buy a better one. Date: 2006-05-20 Love mine Excellent MP3 player, very easy to use, no skipping when I run with it, and it's very easy to download songs onto it. My one complaint is that the volume button is kind of difficult to use. I find myself struggling with it sometimes, but I've gotten used to it. Overall a very good choice. Date: 2006-05-17 Good unit, bad shuffle programming This unit is basic but it is good. The quality is fine. Yes the earbuds are a little large but you can buy more easily. The operation is basic and with a little time you can learn to move around easily. Battery power is good for new batteries, I found rechargables don't last as long. My biggest gripe about this unit and many others is the shuffle feature. Often it plays the same song within 10 minutes of the last play. I had the same problem with Iriver as well. I wish they could include some kind of programming to make it play all the songs randomly without repeating. Still, this is a good unit. I have used it on long flights and plugged it into an FM transmitter for playing over large speakers at parties. Next time I have the money I will probably move up to a larger storage capacity and I will consider Sandisk again. Date: 2006-05-16 The best gift for a child ever I bought this for my son who originally wanted an ipod. After playing with it for the last month, I can say that he's totally delighted. This is a kid who's up on the latest and greatest, and is usually very picky about what he likes. He LOVES this. It's super small and light, so he can just wear it around his neck under his shirt. For the low price tag, it was a fantastic deal and I couldn't be more pleased. Due to comments about the ear buds, I ordered the sony earbuds (under $10) and it sounds like a concert in your ears. The earbuds that came with it are not horrible, but buy some decent quality earbuds, they are very inexpensive and it's a really nice difference. Absolutely 5 stars. Date: 2006-05-14 you get what you pay for!!! it's an okay player but don't pay more than a hundered$ if you want a mp3 that sortes your songs by artist album... don't buy this one don't belive what they say about playlist's the disk inculded tells you-you can make play list's
