User Submitted SanDisk 1 GB MP3 Player Silver Reviews (cont...)Date: 2006-04-06 BEST BUY FANTASTIC. IT IS VERY EASY TO DOWNLOAD AND USE. I PURCHASED PHILLIPS NOISE CANCELING HEADPHONES AS THE EAR PLUGS FALL OUT EASILY. HAVE TRIED SEVERAL BRANDS OF MP3 PLAYERS BUT NONE EQUAL THE SANDISK. A GREAT BUY AND QUALITY MACHINE. Date: 2006-04-06 ABSOLUTELY A PIECE OF TRASH I am not sure where to start with this POS! I am returning this to Amazon as it died after about 2 hrs of use. It wont power up with the battery or when attached to my computer. The 2 hrs of use I did get were VERY POOR! The volume is too low, the headphone jack was almost too tight for ANY headphones, the plastic case didnt fit properly, the software you get had to be upgraded (for a price of course) to use all the library functions, very poor backlight, joystick is hard to operate. I could go on and on, I am just glad this died now instead of a few months from now! AVOID SANDISK MP3 PLAYERS! AVOID SANDISK MP3 PLAYERS! AVOID SANDISK MP3 PLAYERS! AVOID SANDISK MP3 PLAYERS! AVOID SANDISK MP3 PLAYERS! AVOID SANDISK MP3 PLAYERS! Date: 2006-03-27 Light as a feather this thing. It's about the size of a lighter and somewhat lighter. It runs on a AAA battery (included). Very easy to use. I don't give it a 5 because I has no suffle or loop playback options. Plus, the voice recording it very rough. It's easy to use, except for the arm strap, that thing was poorly designed, but I guess it's nice that it brough it at all. It brings a latch so you can run a cord through it and hang it around your neck, but the cord is not included (bummer). I liked the price for 1 giga. It can be used as a flsh drive, but you'de have to carry the USB cord with ya wherever you go to upload or download soemthing. Date: 2006-03-25 User unfriendly and poor quality. If you expect to use this product by simply feeling for the controls then you should immediately start looking for some other MP3 player. The "joystick" is so poorly designed that you'll confuse the volume control with track forward and backwards. Intuitively, I had assumed that you can use your thumb on top of the joystick; however, you'll be trained in to nudging the control. This is not natural as the contour of the joystick and your finger will not match; hence, the ambiguity in control. Other issues: - Headphone is okay; use any other headphone and you'll need to crank up the volume. - Slight background hiss is present; fortunately, hiss does not increase as the volume is cranked up. - This looks small; however, the battery compartment bump makes it rather thick. - Backlighting is poor. - No belt clip! Further, the cheap vinyl case is sure to wear out rapidly. - Headphone jack is obscured by the cheap case. - Battery life is poor; thus, further speeding the wear and tear on the vinyl case. - Slow startup. - 2 second gap between songs...even with proper ID3 tagging. I thought my old Creative Muvo would sit in the drawer; however, this 1 Gbyte player is not getting much workout. Factor the price of this unit and you have a very poor device. Sandisk should stick to making memory modules. Date: 2006-03-23 Hard to use This player has too many useless features that are hard to use. The supplied manual is all but useless, and when we bought ours no online manual was available (there is one now which was very helpful in figuring out the non-intuitive procedures). My player several times narrowly avoided being tossed in the bay after freezing up as I tried to switch from radio to mp3 mode, then endlessly looping thru the radio spectrum til I shut it off. I am by no means a tech newbie, and I found the operation of this thing to be a real pain. It has now been a month and I have finally figured out and memorized the convoluted, non-intuitive procedures for most operations. I am now just hoping the cheesy joystick control doesn't break, which would render the thing completely useless, at which point it will sleep with the fishes in Elliot Bay.
