Works, but not a great player
I have owned this player for almost a year now. Until now, I have not had many problems with it. It is light and it worked. The most annoying thing about this player is the interface. It is usable but it is not as easy as other mp3 players I have used/owned. You have to use three buttons and the thumb nipple button to control the device. Sometimes, it is very frustrating trying to navigate thru the different modes. Or, you get stuck on the radio mode by accident (the radio sucks, by the way...there is almost no reception) and it is a b*tch to get back to listen to mp3s.

recently, it has started to jam up on me. this came out of the blue. my mp3 player has not been dropped, stepped on, or shocked in any way.

this player is convient for athletic activity because it is small but I will look for better devices in the future.

Great beginner MP3 player
I bought the SanDisk 256 MB MP3 player for my husband for Christmas. I realized he was a bit more technically savvy than me, so I ended up keeping it for myself and getting him another with more memory.

I've never used an MP3 player, but the SanDisk 256 is so easy to use, I mastered it within minutes. The help disk included with the player also provided a download for MusicMatch Jukebox, which is similar to I-tunes or Napster. Purchasing, downloading, and transferring CD tunes was so easy even I could do it. It took literally only minutes to get my first MP3 files going.

One of the reasons I wanted to migrate from CD players to MP3 players was the skip factor. The SanDisk 256 uses the embedded flash memory which really comes in handy at the gym. I hang the SanDisk 256 around my neck with a cord and though the unit bounces off my chest over and over, it never skips. This is a definite plus.

The sound quality is great, the display easy to read, and I love that the SanDisk comes with an FM radio and voice recorder. Don't let the small memory fool you. I have a mix of MP3 and WMA and right now have around 50 songs on the unit with about 1/3 of the memory still available. For the price, this is a great beginner MP3 player, very sharp looking, easy to use, and well worth the price.

Sandisk 512 mp3 player
My wonderful husband got this for me for Christmas. He was a little shocked when I picked this over the ipod shuffle. But I researched it and that this was proably the best pick. I love it the earbuds are comfortable, but got earphones too. The sound is superior. It is agreat little gadget!!!

GOOD ENOUGH for Price
Good:
-Sound quality
-Storage space
-Voice recording quality
-Battery Life.

Bad:
-Volume (not loud enough when you use plain over-the-head headphones)
-File tranfer problems (player will freeze sometimes)
-Random auto-offing (rarely the player will just turn off)
-Protective clear case (has major fitting problems = dirt build up)

This is a good enough player for me during exercise, especially for only $44.
