User Submitted SanDisk 512 MB MP3 Player Blue Reviews (cont...)Date: 2005-10-25 Good little player, bad little controls... I had an old Rio 128 MB Player, so I needed something bigger to hold more songs. I also need an FM tuner at the gym so I can watch the TV when on the cardio machines. There are some good things about this player, some bad. Will just list them below. GOOD: - Size is nice, not too small. - Sound is pretty nice for the mp3 files, no problems there. - File transfer from PC was easy with the USB cable and windows explorer. - FM tuner had good reception for a change, BUT thats all I like about the radio... - BAttery life so far very good, been over 2 weeks on same battery, use daily. - Under $70, good deal. Now the BAD... - NO WASTE CLIP. I do not really like strapping it to my arm, and there was no belt clip with it to use. Not good, but I can deal with it. - Radio controls are awful. Trying to set your stations for preset is hard. VERY hard. Im good with electronics, and I had a hard time. The manual doesnt help too much here either. I had them set, then they reset themselves somehow. Then they auto set the local radio. Then reset again....etc... - Hard to switch back and forth from radio to mp3. Need to pause music, tap button, click left, etc... Not enough buttons for the functions. Overall though, if you can get it for $60 or so, its a good buy. Date: 2005-10-24 My first and only MP3 player This unit is great for working out as it is solid state (no moving parts). Just what I needed. I was worried that it would be frustrating connecting it to my pc, and downloading. That actually was my biggest concern because Iam not the savyiest tech. wizard!! But since I already use Jukebox for music it was just too easy. I actually did better when I didnt use the directions as they are a bit much. Just plugged it into the USB port, open Jukebox, and copied existing or new music onto my Portable Device!!. Thanks SanDisk for a great product!! Date: 2005-10-23 SanDisk 512 This is an awesome little MP3 player! It has all the capabilities of any other MP3 player even an IPOD. The volume is great! It is worth the money and some. Date: 2005-10-22 Small yes, good sound yes, easy to use no Ok, the good news is that I only paid $65 for it and increased my capacity (versus my old Nomad) by a factor of 16--and now I have FM radio as well. It is very small and light and has a decent display. It is crammed with features including a graphic equalizer, several repeat modes including A-B and shuffle. I haven't used the voice recorder yet (doubt ever will), so I can't comment on that. The sound is very good. The difficulty starts when trying to manage all the features and using the guide. The instruction booklet leaves a lot to be desired and is just flat-out wrong about several things. I am relatively astute with electronic gadgets, but this one drove me crazy for the first day that I owned it. For example, you have to pause the music in order to switch over to radio--no big deal I guess, but it drove me nuts for awhile because that wasn't clear in the guide. Also trying to switch to another song, by using the song directory, while another song is playing can be tricky and doesn't always switch to the song that has been requested. Radio reception seems fairly good, yet I haven't figured out how to manually preset individual stations that get skipped over by the automatic -strong signal- preset funcion (maybe there is a way but I can't find it). The ear buds are ok, but they do become uncomfortable after awhile. The arm band certainly wasn't designed specifically for this player, but you can make it work in conjunction with the flap/snaps on the soft cover. The volume capacity should be fine for most, although you have to approach 30-40 / 40 for most active situational uses. Loading songs was fairly simple using MusicMatch software. However you apparently have to make changes to playlists, etc. with your computer as opposed to the player itself. And at times, certain songs become "locked-up" on pause when trying to access them for play. Battery life seems ok, but shy of the running time touted by the maker. I initially had the urge to pack this thing up and send it back, but after fiddling with it for a couple of days I have decided for $65 it is a keeper...just barely. I wouldn't whole-heartedly recommend this one to my friends, but for the price it may win over some despite its short-comings. I hope their new models (which I should have waited for) are easier to navigate and correct some of these mostly minor flaws. Date: 2005-10-20 Sandisk - Keep it up guys !! I decided to buy the Sandisk 512MB flash mp3 player after reading the reviews of other buyers on amazon and I'm glad !!! Although the Sandisk blue is not as sleek as the iPod shuffle, it has way more functionality (mp3, radio and voice recorder) for a lesser price. My roommate got himself an iPod shuffle and had to install the iTunes software just to transfer songs to the device...how pathetic is that !!! Being a software engineer myself, I totally despise products that are not user friendly or require extra software installations. For me, I just had to connect the USB cable and the Sandisk blue was all set to transfer songs...no software installation required ! It also comes with a belt and plastic cover to minimize wear and tear. Good work Sandisk guys (and gals) !!
