User Submitted Contour Showcase 4G & Ipod Photo Compatible iPod Case Reviews (cont...)Date: 2005-03-17 Intelligently designed case with minor flaws After very extensive research I came to the conclusion that Contour offered some the best cases aesthetically and functionally. I was drawn to the Contour Showcase because it kept with the design of the iPod (something that so many cases fail to do). One of the reasons that the design is so appealing is because the designers actually kept with the theme of the iPod. The Showcase displays your iPod in all its glory, instead of covering the brilliant design with a cheap 20 dollar case. The case also offers very good protection, especially for the screen. The Contour has a thick layer of transparent plastic that covers the entire front (except click wheel), which I found to be a major plus. I only have 2 small complaints about this case. One, it does add a small amount of width if you have the 20 GB because it's designed to fit both the 20 and 40. Secondly, the case seems to get dirty pretty quickly, especially around the edges. I pretty much treat my iPod like a baby (even with the case) and it has still managed to pick up a decent amount of dirt. I'm pretty sure that this is due to the rubbery texture. These drawbacks are very minute and would not influence me to deter anyone from buying this case. I know its appealing to pick the case that matches your iPod, but if a little dirt is gonna bother you then you should probably go with the black one. Date: 2005-02-24 Exactly what I was looking for! After buying and using a DLO Jam Jacket for about a week, I was very disappointed in all the lint and dirt it picked up! After reading the good reviews on here about the Contour Design Showcase, I purchased one for my 20GB Ipod... now THIS is what a good case is supposed to look like! Great form and function in one package! Date: 2005-02-19 Good case So far this is the best case I've found. The rubberized parts make the case easy to grip. Convenient openings provide easy access to the docking port, click wheel and topside controls. I agree with previous reviewers that the case will tend to get dirtier than others. If this is a concern try the black. For protection and utility, this case is excellent. Looks are great, but will probably degrade over time. Highly recommended. Date: 2005-01-30 Good case but easily scratched or cracked. I really like this case. It is well designed with solid rubber around the perimeter and back of the case. The rubber clearly was made to provide shock-absorbing impact protection to the iPod. The front of the case is made out of relatively thick clear plastic and has a cutout for the click wheel. There is a detachable belt clip on the back that holds the iPod horizontally on your belt. I thought I had finally found the perfect case. However, with my first day of use I was disappointed to discover that the front clear plastic part can be easily scratched or cracked. When I went past a bookcase, I accidently bumped the case against the bookcase. It seemed like nothing serious until I removed the iPod from my belt. The plastic front of the case had a deep crack in it. It is still usable but not very attractive anymore. Too bad, this case really had promise. If only the front plastic had a little more give to it. Date: 2005-01-28 Get the black case instead While I agree with other reviewers that this case is ultra-cool, I have a suggestion for anyone considering buying it: Get the black case, not the white. After only a few days, the edges of my white case were filthy. Even if I regularly clean it with soap and water (which is a drag), the rubber is starting to yellow--as white plastics are apt to do. Otherwise, this product is well-designed, highly functional and totally recommended.
