User Submitted SanDisk Sansa m250 2 GB MP3 Player (Black) Reviews (cont...)Date: 2008-09-30 Rugged, Barebones MP3 Player I originally purchased the 1 GB model 2+ years ago. I use it when I run or work in the yard (10+ hrs a week). Day in, Day out this rugged little player keeps on playing. So much so that I've bought this newer model as a gift for my sister for her to use for the same purposes. Sound Quality is exceptional. I'm on my 2nd set of earbuds. The little wires broke at the hook in to the player. I found it wise to loop the earbud wire around the player leaving some slack so that the inadvertent pull doesn't strain the little wires. The little LED is surprisingly readable. Selecting particular songs (out 1-2 GB) is laborious. But to load and let them play, its fine. I keep my tunes in Windows Media Player. The Sansa only seems to allow a single playlist; so, I've established (and continuously modify) various playlist in WMP and then upload (which is simply point and click) from WMP to the Sansa when I need a change (every month or two). 1 GB of WMA tunes (as I've recorded them) is about 150 songs; so, I don't quickly get bored. Its very good on batteries. I use standard rechargeables which I recharge with a Maha/Powerex MH-C204W (best little charger I've found). It charges in pairs. I have four batteries and continuously recycle them every day or two. Note that if you switch the unit off, when you switch it back on, it plays where you left off. However, if the battery dies, you replace it and restart, it restarts where it was restarted before. Hope that makes sense. In summary, I'd recommend this player to anyone for basic usage. If you must carry ALL your tunes with you ALL the time, selecting this one and then that one, you'll want something with more storage and selectability (iPod, etc.) Date: 2008-09-30 SanDisk Sansa MP3 Player Review I had one of these MP3 players originally but it went through the washing machine and just wouldn't work again. I ordered another one but had several problems with it (not wanting to stay on, and intermittently playing music) so I returned it and ordered another one and am waiting for it to arrive. All in all, I really like this product. Date: 2008-09-29 Do not waste your time Do not waste your time and money on this MP3 player. I've spent more time trying to get the thing to play all the songs than I have listening to it. You cannot delete songs on the device--you have to do it on the computer--have fun with that one! This thing loves to duplicate and will not play all of the songs. I've had this since the beginning of August and it's already freezing up and it's gone through MANY batteries. $30 is too much to pay for this, much less the retail price! All I can say is, if you do buy this thing--good luck! Date: 2008-09-29 great player considering low low price I have the m250 (refurb). Amazon's price today is currently the best and they are offering it with the case and lanyard - I didn't get those. It's a great little mp3 and fm radio player. Sound quality is 'good enough'. It runs on your regular or rechargeable AAA battery for about 12 hours and fits in your hand nicely. There's no video, pictures or album art, but who cares. I'm really just looking for a 21st century 'walkman' - aren't you? Sansa's devices seem to have their share of quirks. On mine, as I commented to someone who also had issues: I found that there is a bug in my 250 at least (it was refurbished) which makes the volume drop way off if I don't have all the equalizer settings in 'custom' set to EXACTLY FLAT. If you do that and OK it with the checkmark, on mine, suddenly the volume goes up. Sorry no idea what firmware I have. By the way, if like me you want to transfer your records and tapes to MP3, know that you CAN do this for free with a cassette deck or record player and amplifier, an rca to 3.5mm adapter plug to connect to the PCs line in, the free software AUDACITY and the free MP3 "Lame" converter codec. This isn't the place to describe that, but pull out your 80s (or 40s LPs and (learn how to) make 'em into MP3s!) Date: 2008-09-28 Good little player---except I love this little mp3 player. It is easy to use. The only thing I would change is that I would have liked a rechargeable battery.
