Great network, poor PDA for the price.
The Palm OS version is much better, but I did somewhat like using this version as well. I'm giving this phone 4 stars because of the network it is running on, but the phone itself is not the best. Palm ALWAYS comes out with a phone with limited memory, then comes out with a minor update later with a little bit more RAM. There is far cheaper phones with more memory out there, which is sad, seeing as Treo's are very high priced. Palm came out with the Treo 600, then came out with the Treo 650 with a better screen and a but more memory. Now there is talk of a Treo 750, with the same type of upgrades. This has caused me to totally give up on Treo's. For Palm to milk us customer over and over again, with small upgrades, shows no respect. Palm also outsources their customer care, so good luck in getting help. The ONLY perk is Sprint only charges $15 dollars a month for PDA access. Which is far less then the $30, $40, and $50 that T-Mobile, Verizon and Cingular charge for the same type of access.

If you want a PDA, go with the Q or PPC. Unless you like wasting your money on a phone, just so the company can come out with a phone with a few upgrades later on. I respect Palm because they are an American company, but I will never buy anything from them again. Which is a complete 180 from my stance just a few years ago.

Most unstable product I have ever owned
I have owned the 700wx for about 4 or 5 months now and it seems that it gets more and more unstable as every month passes. On bad days I will manaully rest the phone 2 or 3 times a day. 90% of the problems start when I make/recieve a phone call and try to use the bluetooth (I have the P510 headset). When the product works - it is great - once on a call with the bluetooth - it never has a problem - but it is always "exciting" when I want to make or recieve a call - never know if a "melt down" is about to happen. I do not always have to reset - but many times I will have to hang up and work through getting the bluetooth to play nice. I work in a high tech environment and currently work with 6 people that have either a 700p or 700w/wx - mine seems to be the worse but they all have their share of horror stories at some level. I have tried to work with Palm but they say that everything is up-to-date and since the problems are not consistently reproducable there is nothing they can do to troubleshoot.

My recommendation is stay away from the windows version - the palm version is not perfect but a much more stable product.

Great phone, customizable like crazy, way more functionality than other similarly priced phones
Prior to this I was a large Tmobile Sidekick 2 advocate.

What I like:
-Extremely customizable. You can install software to do practically anything, edit the registry to change the way the OS works and handles cache, etc.
-Quite small in size considering a full qwerty keyboard, number pad, dpad, screen, etc. Much easier to pocket than a Sidekick 2 and weighs less.
-Far more memory than the 700w or Sidekick 2. I don't keep getting out of memory messages and have enough room to store programs, mp3 ringtones and images without even using a memory stick.
-Making your own ringtones and using them is easy.
-Camera takes pretty high resolution pics (1280x1024).
-Can be used to obtain internet connection for laptops or computers anywhere if you know how to set it up.
-Works great as a phone, the speaker volume is much better than the Sidekick and so is the reception.

What I dislike:
-Unless you research into applications, certain tasks can be annoying, such as soft rebooting without taking out the battery for example. Customize-ability is basically a double edged sword. It probably won't do a lot of what you want right out of the box if you use it for more than basic purposes, but it's possibilities are endless.
-The small size results in a small keyboard. It takes getting used to, as I found it really difficult after being used to the Sidekick. Once you get used to it you aren't really bothered.
-No built in Wi-Fi. Note that I am not actually bothered at all that this device does not come with wifi. You can easily get an optional SDIO wifi card which can be upgraded as they improve. The problem is if you use a memory stick, you can't use both the wifi and memory at the same time. Luckily this device has more RAM than the 700w.
-Camera pictures are practically colorless and bland. I don't really expect camera phones to take good pictures however.
-Does not come with push email standard. You can however set it up through other means. The sidekick spoiled me in this respect.

All in all I am very happy with the phone.

Great Phone
I have had my treo for about 2 months now and i love it. I read another person's review about not being able to text verizon or t-mobile users well i have friends on both networks and we send and receive messages to each other without a problem. I think that this is a great phone. The only thing that i don't like about the phone is that you can't have call tones or or download ringtones from sprint without having to edit the registry and fooling the sprint website into thinking that you are using the 650.

Functional, but few Palm enhancements
I went with the Windows-based Smartphone since I need to sync with Outlook and OneNote on my home and work computers. Windows Mobile is implemented on this phone in a bit of a blah manner. Palm really did not go out of their way to add any cool features. This 700wx can be held and operated with one hand, but the touch buttons and icons on the touch screen are small, making it hard to hit the right ones the first time. The 700p buttons are 4x larger in phone mode, so it's much easier to use as a phone.

Screen resolution is only nominal (but functional) at best, but nowhere near as nice as the 700p screen. The camera output is downright awful. Photos are consistenly fuzzy, even for a 1.2 megapixel camera. The speaker on the 700wx is okay, but very low on the volume side if you're trying to use it in a car. When in a car or outdoors, I find I need to put the speaker next to my ear to catch all of the conversation. Bluetooth Activesync works great. No need to buy an extra travel cable! The keyboard has a nice feel, and the unit is pretty responsive overall.

At the end of the day, this phone is a standard Windows PDA with a phone component. The features on this phone are about the same features as any other Windows Smartphone (but fewer features than a Dell Axim, for example). It might as well have been made by a generic phone maker, as there are very few Palm-added features. Someone at Palm obviously said "Good enough, just get it to market for goodness sake." The form factor is what really sells this phone. It does what it's supposed to do, nothing more.
