Amazing - Better than I ever anticpated
I already had a Sprint PDA, but when I saw this one, decided to upgrade. I saw that it could be used with my SlingBox to play cable TV, PVR, and DVD player on the PDA screen. Sure enough - works perfectly. Easy to set up. Just amazing. Now I can watch TV from my own cablebox whenever I am. Very fast transfer rate.

I also found the keyboard to be quite easy to use. I've had it for a few weeks, and I'm still learning its features, but it has everything I could have asked for. Syncs with my VPN, Bluetooth compatible, and a wonderfully sharp screen.

My husband liked mine so much, we are buying another one for him.

Compare this review with Pocket PC 6700
Just switched phones from the Pocket PC 6700 to the Treo 700wx and I definitely like this better. The only down side of it are the following (which may or may not be important):

1. It is not as bulky as the PPC6700

2. There are no buttons to make a smiley face or a forward slash (/) button to place it on a webpage.

3. YOU CANNOT text others who are on T-Mobile BUT they can text you! This is a nightmare but I am living with it!

But all in all, it feels way better than the PPC 6700, it is a little more compact and is more advanced as far as speed and precision.

Great Gadget that has more functionality that the iPhone
Here's my humble review about the Palm Treo 700wx (through Sprint)
I cannot say enough great things about this phone. There are other phones that have a better weight, better keyboard, but overall this is in my opinion, one of the best broadband smartphone available today. I have previously owned the POCKET PC 6700 and the new T-mobile DASH.

While the new iPhone has a bigger wow factor and display features, KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU CANNOT EVEN CUT AND PASTE with the iPhone! You cannot download any programs neither from Apple or third party software, these two limitations are enough to keep my respect for my treo 700wx.

To me the choice of this phone was very simple: find the fastest broadband carrier in the U.S. at the lowest price. SPRINT is the only one that fits that criteria. CINGULAR and T-MOBILE EDGE "fast" network is not so fast (only double dial-up speed). I love T-mobile, the best customer service on the planet, but they lost me on the $30/month for 150 KBPS download speeds.
AT&T offers the same phone but charges you nearly $40/month just for data!
Sprint is only $15/month for very fast data (near DSL speed).

DON'T BE FOOLED when you see certain devices that have WINDOWS MOBILE 5 Operating System.. Some have WM5 (POCKET PC edition and some have SMARTPHONE edition) the smartphone edition is much more limited. For example, I owned the T-mobile DASH for a few weeks. You couldn't even CUT AND PASTE text! There was no word processor whatsoever, not even a notepad program. You have to buy it extra.

Palm has put its own cool tweaks to the existing Windows OS, so that the result is an even niftier, more user friendly, intuitive machine.

If you click on Start and Help in any given screen, you can get context sensitive help wherever you are.. or you can search the Help sections.

I also signed up for the $10/month TELENAV GPS service. You MUST have a bluetooth GPS receiver however to have this service work on the phone. By that I don't mean the standalone GPS units.. but a GPS receiver which is about $100 and the size of a pager (no screens). I have the BT-339 with the classic the SiRFstarIII(tm) architecture and it has worked pretty well with the TeleNav service.

I downloaded for about $20 Pocketstreamer which is a software program that is able to do an excellent job at streaming tens of radio and TV stations from around the world including channels such as ABC NEWS, MSNBC RADIO, tons of music and talk radio channels. Unlike MobiTV, this is a one time price for the software and no subscription required. MobiTV I hear is very good, but it's $10/month.

PROS:

* Stable
* Extremely intuitive
* Flexible
* MS OFFICE SUITE (with ability to edit WORD DOCUMENTS etc.)
* Fast processor
* SD/SDIO slot
* Broadband EVDO Speeds around 400 KBPS
* On Demand Web Portal from Sprint
* MUCH BETTER THAN POCKET PC
* Ability to stream many radio stations without trouble
* Has a stylus but is not stylus dependent

* GPS DEVICE READY.. IT DOESN'T HAVE A BUILT IN GPS (EXCEPT for 911 emergency chip) but it has settings to accept and make it easy to add a GPS device..etc.

* Ability to successfully stream radio broadcasts on Windows Media Player
___________________________________________________
CONS:
* Small keyboard .. it takes a little while (few days) to find a position that suits your hands..but I've found a decent comfortable fit.

* A bit on the heavy side. This is not a "slim" type design, but they had to put a good battery that lasts and it does well for battery life.

* No wifi (but EVDO makes up for it) You won't really need wifi if you have broadband connections wherever you are.

* CDMA phone (won't work internationally as opposed to a GSM phone)
* Windows Media Player often is not successful at opening webpages that have a windows media file.. which is not a problem of this particular phone, but most devices running Windows Mobile 5.

BOTTOMLINE: If you're a power user who enjoys having a mini computer with them at all times including MS OFFICE and endless possibilities, this baby should make you happy. Highly recommended.

Great phone, some problems with Sprint
While I love the phone, there are some issues with this phone that Sprint (or Palm) has not worked out yet. The biggest issue is that you cannot send text messages to people who are on Verizon or on t-Mobile. For some reason text messages are never received by people on those networks. Sprint is aware of this problem, but have no resolution in the near future. You are able to receive text messages from them however.
