Its Great at the Gymn
I was looking for a low footprint player to use at the gym. The problem with any Ipod, is no FM, and the TVs at the gym broadcast audio in FM, so you can listen while you watch and workout. I have a Zune, but it's just too big. I picked this up for about $10 as a refurb. It sounds great, and works perfectly. The record feature is cool as well. I got the lady on the free weights to give me her phone #, and didn't have a pen handy, so I just recorded it. Battery life is great. it seems to last for ever. You can just drag and drop songs to it using window, no special software, no DRM. It holds about 10 CDs worth with built in memory, and has micro SD expansion. Mine now holds 9 gigs, and I've only spent about $20. The ear phones are not wonderful, but I had some Sonys, so I don't use them.

I strongly recommend this player. Why spend hundreds on an Ipod when you can get his for under $20

Just what I needed
I can't say enough for this little player. I am still attached to my iPod...however I travel a lot with my job and was looking for a few features.

* Long battery life - I am getting about 12 hours of use between charging. A good deal more than my current iPod mini.
* The ability to save files for work. With the 2Mb sd card I have been able to ditch my memory stick. This is an easy drag-and-drop.
* FM tuner - sitting in the airport sometimes I just want to tune into NPR.
* A microphone - sounds silly, but when I leave a client I like to dictate some notes. This is quick and easy.

I have noticed on the message/forum boards that there may be some bugginess with regards to upgrading the firmware (killing the player). I had no problems. Also, this is a discontinued product from SanDisk and there is apparently no way to replace the battery.

I may toss some money at a new iPod touch at some point in the future, but for $20 (including the sd card) this has been a great little purchase.

A complete junk. Period.
I bought a refurbished one for $11. Now I know why there is so many refurbished units. Because IT IS a piece of junk. There is no resume function. You have to shut down the player while playing so that next time you can return to where you are. As long as it is connected to USB port, above method fails. The microSD expansion is useless. Why? Because every time it starts, it will need to update the database for long time if you have microSD installed. I have installed the latest firmware but there is no fix. BTW, the unit is dead on me right after I upgrade the firmware. Fortunately I followed the tips to leave it on the USB port and restart the PC and later it was debricked. I have to say this is a very badly designed Sandisk product.

The worst mp3 player on this planet
This is the worst mp3 player I have ever seen.
1. When I copy files to it, it always show message like "the device has stopped working or connection is broken", then I have to take it out and plug in it again in order to copy more files.
2. My files are titled like 01xxx, 02xxx, 03xxx etc. However, the player displays them in revised order, and plays them in revised order!
3. If you pause it in middle of playing an mp3 file, you will have to play from beginning of the file after the player turned off automatically.
4. It's hard to switch between MTP and MSC mode.
...
I had a Sansa e260 before, though they are both from Sandisk, but Sansa e260 has none of above problems. So I'm very disappointed to see it's such a player.
I have used some other mp3 players from Creative, some other no-name brands, my conclusion is: any player on this planet, including Sansa clip and e2xx, is much better than this one.

Awful and not worth buying
I bought this product about 4 months ago. It worked fine for the first month but after a while I would turn it on and then it would stop. Just right in the middle of the player starting up! The screen paused and it wouldn't even turn off until it was plugged into a computer.

Another thing I noticed was It would change the titles, artists, or albums on it. It would say something like the song was called "Justin Timeberlake" by Purple Haze, from the album "Billie Piper" It makes browsing through music very irritating. On occasion all of the text in the player would be in Japanese! I would have to delete everything and drag it back into the player.

I also had the problem with the player randomly turning off when it was still charged.
