So disappointing
I love the touchscreen aspect of the Treo, and it is sleek and feels great in the hand.

I read reviews before I committed, and thought I knew what I was getting into.

So, amazon has now sent me two replacement 680s, because of what I thought were problems with individual phones I had (they've been great about the exchanges!). This third one has the same problems--worse even. I guess it is just a characteristic of Treos to freeze, shut down, need to have a soft reboot. This may not seem like a big deal, but when you can't answer a call, though it rings and rings? When you don't get texts, missed incoming calls don't register, suddenly the text at the top of the screen is gobbedlygook? This happens an average of three times a day!

Also, it has continual unexplained problems connecting to internet, and suddenly won't check email that has come in after some random date in September.

These are problems my computer network administrator friend had, too, before he went back to Blackberry.

I feel trapped by this phone in my two year contract with AT&T, and regret leaving my Blackberry and tmobile.

I like my Treo 680
I have had the phone a month, and I really like it. It does everything I want it to, including organizer and calendar, as well as holding and displaying PDF, Word, and Excel docs.

It DOES take a while to learn to use the features, and I have to admit there are probably some I still don't know.

BTW, it comes with all the accessories you need, including a car charger, headset and usb cable for the computer.

I would recommend it.

go for the 750!
good looking little think, lots of features, powerful, those are the pros. Cons, it is not insurable through Cingular, network reception can be flaky on the 680, high learning curb for features, low compatibility with existing software. Basically you need to buy more software for full music player compatibility, transfering your documents from pda to actual windows apps, using your own ringtones, and basically anything utilizing a media file is rendered useless unless it is the correct mp3 file. come on people, your palm! Cingular service and coverage is out of this world, highly recommend this carrier with 5 plus stars.

Do not buy this phone!
I have a Treo 680 that I got on the special trade up program a couple of months ago. It's a nice looking phone. That is the best I can say about it. If it rings, the ringing will stop instantly as soon as I touch the phone. Not when I touch a button or the screen but anywhere on the body of the phone. I have called for warranty service three times. Each time they tell me the same thing -- it's a software problem! But when I finally convinced them that after trying three times to fix the software and it never worked, it had to be a hardware problem. But then they wanted $25.00 up front to replace the phone with a refirbished phone. The tech supporrt is somewhere in Asia so getting them to understand that it was a hardware problem was very difficult. So the phone doesn't work, and the tech support really stinks! Don't buy this phone.
