One year, 4 days and KAPUT!
My wife bought me this Zune for Christmas 2007. I enjoyed the heck out of it for the entire year, then today, it froze up. It won't let me reset it, nothing.
I attempted to contact Microsoft Support (HA!) and was told that my warranty expired 4 days ago. Now they want to charge me $129 to fix my $200 Zune.
So, we'll be buying a new, different MP3 player and NOT another Zune. What kind of piece of crap breaks 4 days past the warranty expiration? MICROSOFT!! Thieves!

Zune 30gb
Bought one last Christmas and I have loved it. I have had no problems with the player. I use it mostly for music and podcasts, but like the games and viewing movies when traveling. The FM workes great and was my news source during hurricane Ike. The Zune software is good for discovering new music and is not buggy like I-Tunes.

Great alternative to Apple
So this is by no means a new product, but 30gb is more than the vast majority of people need out of an mp3 player so it's still a valid option and can be found at a good deal.
I received my Zune as a gift for Christmas the very first year it was available. It still works great after all of these years..even after being dropped on tile more than twice.
Zune software was stressful in the beginning but they've improved very much over the years to the point of there being no known problems.
Again, yeah this isn't the new Zune and it's pretty thick now days, but great deals can be found on this device, which can do almost everything that the new Zunes can.
I'd recommend the new Zunes first, but if you're looking for a good deal on an mp3 player and don't care how new it is, definitely go for this.

Bought used---Big Mistake!
This was a nightmare from the word go. It arrived scratched, gouged and loaded with stupid content which could not be deleted. The seller only agreed to refund my money after I filed a claim under the A-Z Guaruntee--then lied and said I had not returned the ear buds to stick me for an additional twenty bucks. Steer clear at all costs.

Zune
It is a good product although learning to use it is cumbersome and the battery life isn't good. Neither of these issues prevented me from buying a second unit for a gift but, I wish Microsoft would address these issues.
