User Submitted Zune 30 GB Digital Media Player (Red) Reviews (cont...)Date: 2008-12-18 Songs disappearing from player Please, please, before puchasing a Zune think twice. Purchased Zune 4 months ago. Spent many hrs. downloading songs after figuring out confusing point system. 300.00 spent on music so far. Just days after purchasing docking station with speakers, found half of songs missing from player including many purchased within past week. Customer service is a joke. Little or no instruction given with purchased product. Out around 500 dollars. Buy an i-pod instead. Date: 2008-12-17 Zune In regards to this review I have one word, "Don't buy it!!!" Ok, maybe a few added but it's a strong sentiment that I have regarding the Zune vs. iPod dilemma. I had to be different and now paying the consequence. The Zune Marketplace is sub-par. There are no full length films to purchase. Several positives include being able to listen to radio, a larger screen, and songs are cheaper to download. Still not worth it in the long run. Date: 2008-12-16 Zune 30 GB Digital Media Player (Black) LOVE IT!!! Its not an IPOD (thank god) but its getting better with each passing firmware update.... I bought mine back in 2007 and have gone thru multiple firmware updates and my unit works like the first time I turned it on.... The Zune Social is also another aspect of the device that I like, it allows users to come together and discuss the device and other things of interest.... Overall 10 out of 10, I have not had any issues so far.... Date: 2008-11-29 Zune I purchased this when they first went on sale. It was a gift for my wife to use for her music lesson business. What a waste! For the first several days, my wife spent several hours with customer support. The support people were helpful, but most of the fixes have not worked long term. My wife and I are somewhat tech savvy, but this equipment did not and has not performed as expected. It has not worked correctly most of the past couple of years. As a result, my wife rarely is able to use it in her lessons. It has recorded music pieces over each other, but does not replace the previously recorded material. So it mixes the two pieces together. If you search for a piece, generally you will not find the piece unless you remember adjacent music from the original recording that you downloaded. Perhaps some of the problem is with the service the Zune uses to download the music, but this was one expensive TOY. We have not gone over to the Apple side simply because I remember too many times that the Apple equipment is not backward compatible and seemed designed solely to make you buy the next "upgrade" that in reality is a new system that will not use any of the previous products. Date: 2008-11-28 Disappointing...buyer beware I thought I'd try Zune because I didn't feeling wasting money on Ipod...Maybe this line of technology isn't where it needs to be yet...The Zune, and it's associated software has potential, but doesn't live up to expectations. The Zune software/marketplace will drive you crazy with its consistency. Your ability to download and burn music is entirely dependent on the whims of the software at that particular moment...I'm terribly disappointed. Another crappy product care of the corporate Nazis at Microsoft.
