Date: 2008-09-06 Perfect for children! SIngle Button operation! I bought two of these for use in my 2nd grade classroom (7-8 year olds) in an area where children are technologically deficient. I modeled how to use it during at the listening center and...voila!! They love it! Also, the single button operation (on/off) leaves them with not much responsibility when they come and leave the center! This replaced my class tape player (what? hehe) and CD players. Both of these have moving parts and too many buttons, so the Sansa Shakers is a perfect replacement. There are two headphone ports so two students can use each at a time! I keep a charger in the classroom for the AAA batteries so replaceable batteries also give this an advantage over other MP3 players with built in batteries. It's a great deal: comes with a 512 SD card, which alone is $5-10. My 2 y/o daughter also loves the music that came with the player! I think I'll get her one too... I bought this for my 4-1/2 yr old daughter because she kept bugging me to listen to my mp3 player. Well, I must say it is a life saver. It's easy to operate, she had it for only 5 minutes and said "Mommy, I can do it." I bought rechargeable batteries so that I wouldn't have to spend a fortune on batteries and those last a good 10-12 hours. I love the fact that it has the external speakers, but my daughter prefers the earbuds, it's makes her feel more grown up listening to her own music. Now I had to buy 2 more Shakers for her 9 and 10 yr old uncles because they thought it was so cool! Really I got a good deal, under $20 with shipping and handling, normally they sell at stores for $24-$35 each. You just can't go wrong for the price and I would say this is perfect for 4-12 year olds. Date: 2008-09-01 Great for a day Worked great for one day and then broke. Great design and concept. Music can be played and heard on one headset or two or even out loud on a speaker! Wish it would have lasted longer.
