Using this as a recording tool off of an FM frequency. It is too difficult to figure out and I don't like the bottons. Date: 2008-08-09 Cowon iAUDIO 7 Portable 8 GB MP3 Player (Red It's a little tricky to get use to at first. The buttons are very sensitive. I adjusted mine to low. You pretty much need to use the hold button. If you don't want accidental interuptions. The battery life is amazing. I haven't lost charge once. I have not experimented with the EQ yet. It seems a little tricky. Many settings in that feature. So far so good. Use play speed 0. Otherwise you could listen to Alvin and The Chipmonks. It doesn't come with any case or base. I will update any new experiences. Date: 2008-08-04 Fantastic Audio player Much smaller than it looks online. Solidly built. Works great with linux. Sounds amazing. Powerful equalizer. Bookmarking feature. Can easily switch back and forth between UMS, where it shows up like a USB drive and MTS where it acts like an ipod. Must be in MTS mode to support multiple custom playlists, but it's very easy to add and remove items or folder from the on-the-go playlist. Controls take a day to get used to, but after that are more powerful and intuitive than any I've tried. The screen is small and definitely not designed to see detail in pictures or movies. The tradeoff with the small, lower res screen is a player that for me, plays music audio podcasts and non-DRM'd music for 5-8hrs everyday for a week before I have to recharge. Finally, it uses a standard usb cable for data transfer and recharging, so any adapters you have for other electronics should work for it as well. Highly recommended. I waited a long time before upgrading my MP3 player, because I wanted something Linux/ogg compatible, as well as something that was minus the fancy video features I didn't really want to pay for. Finally found this guy, and couldn't be happier. It not only plays all the formats I was hoping for, it keeps your place in audio books, has fm radio, text, and voice recording, all in such a tiny little device! Sound is amazing, especially once you fiddle with the EQ settings, although I did have to replace the standard ear buds with a smaller in-ear-canal version, as the ones that came with it were just too big to be comfortable. The only other 'con' I can see is that it's definitely a fingerprint magnet, but that was easily combated by picking up its accompanying hard plastic case, which works great and hardly adds anything to the player's size. All in all the best MP3 player I've ever tried or owned. Totally recommend it! :) Date: 2008-07-23 Awesome Player I was afraid the interface would take a long time to get used to but it's been a breeze! I used to have a Zen and it wasn't easy at all. The player holds a charge forever if you go some time with out using it. I never expected that an 8 gig player could be so compact, it's smaller than my old 4 gig player!
