Sprint Service is the WORST
A word about Sprint: They used to be the best, and they are now the worst. The absolute worst.

If you call them today, July 15'th 2008, you will get through the prompts until you are given a wait-time and then the systems tells you to call back later and hangs up on you. I'm not surprised at all. They got rid of 80 % of their customer service workforce.

Things have appeared on my bill for a year that shouldn't be there. I have made 5 attempts to fix this and finally gave up. A lady from Sprint called me trying to sell something and extend my contract, I laughed so hard, that she actually tried to fix my problems. She said she did and of course, it's still on my bill.

I'm turning off my phone today...

About 3 years too late
This isn't a bad phone it's just about 3 years too late. The screen looks terrible, the OS is outdated, no copy and paste, no GPS, and the most ridiculous of all is that while you can use a bluetooth headset with it the centro doesn't support voice recognition and won't respect the bluetooth controls on the headset. Don't waste your money on this piece of outdated technology when for the same money you can have a Blackberry pearl.

Unique in the land of Blackberry
I was all set to conform and buy a Blackberry Pearl like everyone else and their mom but the guy at the Sprint counter talked me out of it by showing me the Centro that he had. I really like this phone although I was drug kicking iand screaming into the land of 24-hour email accessibilty by the army of co-workers that had them I rthink that this was a nice first venture. I wanted something with a full keyboard, like the BB, but the fact that the Centro also has a touchscreen is great (no more mis-dialing numbers) I also truly belive that the Palm OS is better than Blackberry and Windows as it just makes sense and is easy to navigate and setup e-mail accounts etc. This phone is compact and user friendly. The only complaint is that the battery does not last very long without having to be charged.

A Nice Alternative to iPhone or Blackberry
I have had the Centro for a few months now and I think it's a great phone. Other's have listed the Centro's functionality, so I'll try not to be too repetitious.

First, if you're a graduate student like I am you probably need an inexpensive alternative to the Blackberry or iPhone, for me, this is it. I have the Sprint SERO program (google SERO for details), but lets just say it's by far the best (and cheapest plan) I've seen: 500 anytime mins, unlimited text messages, unlimited data/web, nights/weekends @ 7pm, plus much more all for base price of $30/month. That being said, I needed a phone that could compliment that plan, the Centro does that well.

I have easy access to the Web, email, sprint tv, etc. all with the touch of a button.

Some people have criticized this phone for having a small keypad. I don't see it that way. I am an average sized guy with normal guy hands and don't find the keys too small to type on. You get used to it after awhile. The only downside is since it is a full keyboard the days of T-9 (thus, a spell checker) are gone. I am a poor speller and as a graduate student, sending misspelled texts to friends can be somewhat humorous. But it's not really a big deal.

The screen size is probably something that would turn off some business users. As best I can determine, it's about half the size of your average credit card (2"x2"?) to give you all some reference. It's not too bad though. I think it's a perfectly reasonable tradeoff for it's small size. It fits nicely into my jeans pocket without being overly bulky. Certainly, you can find a clamshell phone that is more thin, but you compromise functionality. I agree with another reviewer in that this phone is small but has ALL the features it's big brother the 755p have.

Aesthetically, the phone is appealing. Mine is the black and silver phone. The phone is made of plastic and when you type on the keyboard the plastic gives/creaks a little bit. That gives the phone a cheap feeling. Nonetheless, after numerous drops, I have found the phone to be quite durable.

One complaint is the edges around the touch screen. They are raised a little bit so that when you're trying to access a program on the phone via the touch screen around those raised edges without the stylus, people without long fingernails will find it frustrating (but, I guess, that is what the stylus is there for).

One of the great things about the Palm software is that there are numerous 3rd party applications that can be downloaded onto the phone that will add to the functionality. Just about any program you think you'll need (i.e. date planners, file system software, GUI manipulators, etc), just google and you'll find something.

At the end of the day, this is a great little phone. If you are looking for an organizer, phone, and a low price point, this is the phone for you.

Just a question
I am trying to sync my new Centro with my old calendar on the computer. It says that I can't use the same name, but if I change the name I get a new calendar. I want my old calendar. Any tips on how to keep it but put it on my new Palm?
