Great overall phone/pda -- only 2 problems
I won't repeat what others have said other than to say that this phone is great excpet for 2 things in my opinion:

1) the keys are small, but the bigger problem is that they are curved too high, so when you push them, you feel like you need to push the very center of the key. You get used to it, but it is still a pain.

2) This is the bigger complaint: It DOES boast of mp3 playing, but it does NOT allow you to use normal earphones/plugs. You still have to use a bluetooth or phone headset with it. I find this pretty annoying, since earhphones are so much cheaper, and better quality for music. Be warned! I was surprised by this, so I hope you will not be.

All in all, these are not huge complaints. I still rated it a 5 star because I only have minor gripes about a couple things. I can live with that just fine.

Would you like to connect to the internet now
I have had this phone for about 4 months. This month I got rid of the internet plan on my phone, I found that believe it or not I have enough internet in my life and did not need to check my email or weather every second. This phone however does not like having its internet disabled. Every timer I push any button or try to navigate the menu, the phone prompts me. Do you want to connected to the inter net now. It has a box that reads "never ask again" however it ALWAYS asks again. It is getting to the point where I may have to get a new phone, otherwise the plam calendar and backing up to the computer are features that are nice

Small but awesome - very stable & quick
I have only had my phone for a few weeks, and I love it! The keys are small, but I use my thumb nails and it works great for me. I recently took a class for realtors where they taught us how to use the phones. There were people in there with the Treos and their phones were slow. Also everyone who had the windows software instead of palm software was grumbling. I think I got the perfect phone and with the $99 everything is included plan with unlimited minutes, it is the same price as my old phone.

A Great Budget Smart Phone
I've always wanted a smart phone, but could never justify the multi-hundred dollar price tag and wasn't interested in something so big. But the Centro is small enough for a jeans/pants pocket without sacrificing features or affordability. I still wish the Centro was smaller, especially thinner, and it would be nice if the screen were bigger and the keys were moved to the screen (like the iPhone or HTC Touch). But I understand that these things would all increase the price of the device too, so I'm not complaining. The Palm OS doesn't look very flashy, but it's responsive, dependable, and supported by a huge library of available software.

Pros:
-Affordable
-Small (for a cheap smart phone)
-Stylish (compared to a Treo and lots of other smart phones)
-Responsive, dependable Palm OS compatible with a huge software library
-QWERTY keyboard and stylus available for fast, precise data entry and control

Cons:
-Short battery life (gotta keep it small and cheap somehow)
-Battery cover can be very difficult to remove and replace (not a big deal unless you plan to remove/insert a microSD card frequently)
-Battery cover can creak as you press buttons on the phone, making the phone suddenly feel and sound uncharacteristically low-quality
-No voice command software included (multiple options available for purchase though)
-Palm OS is old and lacks many newer "bells and whistles" of competitors

Conclusion:
I'm very happy with my Centro. I could have paid $150 MORE for a nicer smart phone like the HTC/Sprint Touch, but then I'd have to feel guilty about my unnecessary purchase (and the Touch has it's own problems too). Thanks to the Palm Centro, I now have a good, fun smart phone without breaking the bank. I'm anxious to see what Palm cooks up next for this market!

Excellent value for the contract price, great for an entry level PDA Phone
The Palm Centro is my first PDA phone, although I have owned a couple other standalone PDA systems in the past. The Centro is not quite as convenient to use as a standalone PDA, but its small size and "all-in-one" concept make up for that. Overall, I would have to say that the value is excellent considering the low contract price (and price is important when you are a poor college student like I am), and I would recommend it for the most part.

Pros:
PDA with almost all functions I would want at a low cost
Small size, can fit in most pants/jacket pockets easily
Charges very quickly (to 80% within an hour) with original charger
Palm OS synchronizes with PC

Cons:
Short battery life that runs out in middle of day with heavy usage
Screen a little smaller than I would like

Some people say that the keyboard keys look small, but I have had no problems whatsoever typing with it. It takes about one or two days to get used to. Not a problem at all.

There are compromises for everything in life, including phones. The small screen and small battery come with the convenience of having a small unit. Obviously, you are going to get a smaller screen if you want the entire unit to be a convenient size. I solved the short battery life problem by buying an extra battery to get me through the day if the first one runs low.

However, the pros greatly outweigh the cons for me, mainly because you get a real PDA (not some useless piece of junk like the BB or iPhone) that can sync with a PC. I can live with the slight inconveniences you get that make the phone a more practical product in general.

In my opinion, this phone is better than the overpriced iPhone that can't even have synchronized documents, calendars, appointments, etc. with a PC. In the unfortunate event that my phone is lost/stolen, all my important information will still be backed up on the PC. That's what a REAL PDA phone does, not some cheaply made but well marketed phone that only seems better due to more attractive advertisements (BB or iPhone). I even bought a keyboard for this so that I could take notes in class with it without needing to bring my bulky laptop to class every day. I can just go back to my room, hit the hotsync button, and voila! I have the document on my laptop. Try doing that with an iPhone! (Sorry for the rant, but I believe people should do their own research and buy the better products instead of the more marketed ones)

Conclusion: The Palm Centro is an excellent value as well as a highly versatile system. It has all the functions of the more expensive and desired phones, if not more. Unfortunately, Palm just does not seem to be as good at selling their products.
