User Submitted SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4 GB MP3 Player (Black) Reviews (cont...)Date: 2009-01-06 Presently please Good deal for the money. I have not had any problems with it so far. easy to operate and nice size. Date: 2009-01-06 Sansa Fuze 4 GB Very happy with my first MP3 player. Easy to add music via Windows Media Player. Easier to use than expected. Make sure to plug the earphones in all the way. Date: 2009-01-04 Frustrating Initial Setup This player had been highly recommended by my brother-in-law, who recently got one, so I purchased it as a a gift for my father. Unfortunately, the software that comes with the product won't install and it makes the Fuze practically impossible for a non-computer expert to use. Rhapsody is the digital music service provided with the Fuze and a large insert in the packaging says "[Rhapsody] is the only way to activate all of the features on your new SanDisk Sansa Fuze." Therefore, I inserted the install disc and was immediately greeted with an error that I had to be online to activate the service. The parents don't subscribe to broadband because of its cost and they have better things to do than surf the web. So, I logged-on to their 56K service and waited 15 minutes while Rhapsody installed "Digital Rights Managment File Updates." At the end of that time, the install failed. When I clicked on Help, the browser brought me to a Rhapsody customer service site that would not let me on without creating an account. I couldn't create an account because their setup failed. It was a catch-22. I started over. This time, when a message asked if I would like to install an updated version of the software, I said YES and waited nearly 2 hours for the update to download. Finally, I manually copied some songs I had ripped in Windows Media Player and listened to them on the Fuze. They sounded great! However, this option is not acceptable for my parents. They need an easy to use service and Rhapsody is obviously not it. One other problem - one of the songs that was pre-installed "The Procession" skips when it plays back. I couldn't believe my ears. After listening to it a second time, it stopped happening. I'm concerned with the quality of this product. Date: 2009-01-02 SanDisc Sansa Fuze I have never been happier with a MP3 player. I have used it now for almost a month and it does all that I need a player to be. I liked the fact that the company had it fully charged and loaded with items in each file category so that I could play with the unit immediately. It was easy to figure out without having to read the directions. I love the ease in which I can load the unit with my Podcasts, music and e-books. Those three are the main things I use my MP3 player for. The bookmarks are a great asset and the bookmark feature was the main reason for buying the unit. The unit allows me to delete without having to attach it to the computer. I also bought the external chargers and seem to use the wall charger instead of charging from the computer. I am sure that is probably because I share the computer and DH doesn't have the patience to deal with extra stuff on the table. All in all, I would buy another unit in a heartbeat. Date: 2009-01-01 Excellent improvements over the Sansa e200 series I had an e280 for almost 2 years until so many mechanical things started going wrong that I had to get rid of it. So I was a bit hesitant to try another SanDisk player, but I've been very happy with the improvements. Here's the stuff I like so far: * The rubber scroll wheel is much smoother than the plastic ring on the e200. * The player separates podcasts from your music, so if you want to shuffle your library you don't get podcasts you end up skipping over. * The wider TV-style screen is much easier to read than the old iPod-mini shaped one. * This is really subtle, but it makes a difference to me. When you pause a song or start one up again there's a slight curve to the volume change, rather than a sudden stop or start. This is a much more pleasant effect, and again it's subtle, but it's less jarring when you're listening a lot during the day. * You can now delete a track on the fly instead of having to wait until you're synced to your computer. That's really nice to have when you're done with a podcast and you want to get it out of your playlist. Overall I really like the design of this unit. It has a nice aesthetic to it and it feels like a solidly-built machine. I highly recommend any of the DLO-brand accessories, especially the neoprene armband/jacket combos that are good for workouts. But the cheaper silicone sleeves are OK too. If you're just not an Apple kind of person, or you're looking for a machine that operates great with Windows Media Player, this is an excellent choice.
