Great buy!
I brought this product because I have two toddlers and have now realize how difficult it is to read a good book or listen to my favorite music at home. I now have some of favorite music and some of the books that I have been longing to read on my Zune and I couldn't be happier. The sound quality is great and it is very easy to use. My husband is so tired of me saying how much I love it. If you are thinking of buying it do not hesitate.

This is it! Forget the Nano. Great Digital Media Player!
I love the Zune. It does it all. The touchpad works great, the screen resolution and quality is amazing, the Zune software is easy to use after about 10 minutes, and downloading songs is so easy. I can even use my xbox live points to purchase songs. I downloaded some adult swim cartoons and watched them as I was walking down the street, and even with the small screen, it was great. I was annoyed that there was no EQ, but the sound quality is great, so there really isn't a need for one. It even has a great FM radio. I never understand why every digital media player does not include FM radio! I highly recommend the 8GB Zune over the Nano.

Better features, Better Sound, Better Device.
I am a gadget junkie, and most of my gadgets are music oriented as I am a musician and music lover. Two of my favorite things to get are music players and headphones. I have had many MP3 players since their conception, starting with a Creative Rio. Since then I have had a Creative Zen, 2 5th Gen iPods (30gig, one was a late 5th gen), a 1st and a 2nd gen shuffle, a 1st and 2nd gen nano, a 80gig classic, and 2 iPod touches 16gig. As you can see I am very experienced in the digital music player venue.

I do want to point out that I now only own one iPod my 2nd gen shuffle. 1 of my 5th gens was stolen while the other was traded in to get the 1st touch. The 1st gen Shuffle was washed. The 1st gen nano was actually 4, after the 4th defective one they gave me the 2nd which I fell on while skating and broke the screen. The 80gig classic broke and was not covered under warranty because I left it in the car in Arizona. The first touch would no longer sync and Apple would not replace so I got another that just broke after being dropped a week after I got it, this caused the back to fall off and again apple would not replace it. It held on fairly strong for a long time, but succumbed to it's injures.

Now to the review of the Zune 4gb. This is an old player now. I got it for my wife last year for her birthday. She loved it while she used it, but she eventually decided to put it in a drawer as she does not listen to a lot of music. It sat there for about 5 months, until my iPod touch broke. I asked if I could use the Zune, and she of course said yes, and I began using it about a week ago.

First I will cover the cons:
-While the Zune is plugged into the computer for some reason no other USB storage device will work in the computer. This is not a huge deal for me but to some could be a deal breaker right there.
-Pushing the middle of the control surface is slight hard. It is not an independent button so often I hit a direction instead of the OK. I am getting better though.
-While charging the light is constantly on. This could be a setting but none that I have found, and since I listen to music while I sleep this has been a problem.
-No EQ. This is an issue for some, but I really could careless. This is also a feature that could come back in a firmware update.

The Pros are:
-Built tough. I have dropped, sat on, and fell on this and just a few scratches.
-The sound is great. If you have good headphones you are in for a treat compared to the iPod.
-Purchase from the device. Because all Zunes's have WiFi getting new music is easy.
-FM Radio. The Zune can also ID songs from the radio and buy that song.
-WiFi Sync. This is great to update Podcasts and the like.
-Great display. The display is beautiful bright and clear.
-Xbox 360 integration. If you have one they go great together. Your LiveID can also be your ZuneID tying the two worlds together in a great pairing.
-The Zune Software. If you do not have a bunch of music tied up in iTunes the Zune software is great. Easy to use, beautiful and hip looking. Intuitive and has a social network integrated. I knot that the social aspect may not be a selling point to you but when added with the Zune Pass it is an iTunes killer.
-The Zune pass. This is, as I said, is the killer. For what turns out to be $5.00 a month(the price is $15 a month, but you can download any 10 songs to keep forever so 5 bucks), you get to download a ton of songs. It is true that there are a few songs that are not available, but I find very few. Being a huge music listener I listen to a lot of styles of music, and I am getting my fill. Add to that the social aspect(much like the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" that Amazon uses), and the "Channels"(think weekly radio programs where you get to keep the songs) that cover the top picks in every genre, the Billboard lists of that week, and the Zune DJ's weekly picks you have a great way to discover new music.

Overall I love the Zune. It may not be able to 'touch' the iPod Touch or be as 'popular' as an iPod, but if you are looking for something more like the Nano or Classic, and you are not stuck in iTunes, then I say go with a Zune. I will be getting a Zune 120 as soon as I can. Microsoft has a great product on their hands, and in my opinion with a few adjustments this very well could kill the iPod.

Happy with my new blue Zune
I did a lot of research before deciding whether to buy a Zune or an ipod. I went into that research with a quiet assumption that I'd elect the Apple product because I've always liked Apple products. But, the more I read about Ipods and talked to Ipod owners, the less I wanted to join their ranks. Set-up was easy. The device was charged and entertaining me and my 11-year-old in just a couple hours. My one disappointment is that it doesn't interface with Media Player. Microsoft-meets-microsoft, I just assumed it would be a no-brainer. However, I did manage to transfer music files, create play lists and get the music going. Great sound, feels great in the hand, photos are sharp. Radio works. I'm very pleased.

People really need to check out the Zune
After buying a 30gb Zune for my boyfriend last Christmas I was able to play around with the Zune a little bit and then realized I needed one for my own. I really like how it organizes your media, connects you with other Zune users, and links up with your Xbox360 gamertag. Overall I think this is a great product and people need to check it out!
