classic ipod 120 gb
received today, spent 6 hours trying to get iTues to load into computer. Error message keeps coming us saying that QuickTime did not initialize, error 2096. Spoke to apple rep in India, spent over an hour on the phone with them, no luck. Will be returning tomorrow morning. Peter.

One reason to buy iPod Classic 120GB, Genius playlists!
I have been using "anything but iPod" mp3 players for years, started with early Rio players, first disk based player was Rio Karma (still works, a great player!), moved on to Rio Carbon, a Creative Zen 30GB, then bought a few Zunes (30GB and 80GB), even a Sansa Clip 4GB on Black Friday.

I always steered clear of iPods and iTunes. What changed my mind? iTunes 8 and the Genius feature! I have a powerful Mac desktop at work, loaded all my MP3's into iTunes (over 95GB of music), when iTunes 8 was released in Sept. 08, everything changed.

The Genius feature in iTunes 8 automatically makes a playlist by choosing a single song. So far, the playlists have been amazing. Since I have complete albums in my collection (not popular cuts), it is reasonable that I'm not familiar with every song in my collection. The iTunes Genius playlist feature consistently brings up songs that are excellent, but I wasn't familiar with or hadn't listened to in years.

After playing with the Genius playlist feature in iTunes, I wanted this capability on my MP3 player. Only way to get it was buy the latest iPod Classic 120GB. Versions from last year (80GB and 160GB) don't and won't support the Genius feature on the iPod.

OK Apple, you win, I bought the iPod Classic 120GB. Haven't regretted it a minute. Now I can make Genius playlists on the fly directly on my iPod.

If you have a lot of music and want to make the most of in on a portable MP3 player, get the iPod Classic 120GB. Been using it over a month now, still finding "new" music in my collection.

Genius feature is Pure Genius! Kudos to Apple and its development team.

This is the best iPod value. Period.
There are plenty of positive, honest reviews about this unit and they are all dead-on. The newer iPod Touch models are sweet if you are in to the "Wow Factor", but for the practical audiophile, this is THE iPOD to own.

The screen produces rich colors and sharp images, the sound is terrific and the thin profile makes my original 20 GB iPod look and feel like a brick. The screen size is no issue. While I was in the hospital recovering from major surgery, I watched hours of movies that literally saved me from boredom.

Bottom line for the Classic: A high price-performance ratio and the best iPod value.

Microsft averse
I was one click away from purchasing Zunes for my wife but chose the iPod as it seems to be the most popular. What a mistake. It is not intuitive and it is MS unfriendly. Trying to convert the numerous WAV files is tedious and unreasonable. Should have gone with Zunes.

Great iPod
I'm very happy with the new 120G classic. I got it to replace a 30g, 4th generation. The best new feature is the battery life. On my 30g I could barely get 2 hours of video and it would often run out just at the end of my movie! The new classic runs around 6 hours for video and much more (I think they say 36 for music). It's wonderful not having to charge it up as much.

Holds all my music and lots of video - great upgrade!
