Ipod Again
I've had the 40g Photo, the 30g Video editions and now the 120g version of the Apple iPod. The size is ridiculous, although Zune offers the same. I have almost 10,000 songs and 25 tv shows and 2 movies on mine, with more than 60g still available. Crazy. Nothing terribly new other than genius, which is neat if bored and are in the mood for particular style of music. Its not dead on, but pretty close.

I had the 30g Zune - my biggest complaint with that was the software with it wasnt too responsive to when you made preference changes. It didnt make sense and until they resolve that, I'll probably avoid the Zune again, but that was just my experience with Zune. They do however offer a better mean than apple to retrieve Album art which I think Apple as taken for granted on Itunes.

Basically the classic Ipod isnt too much of a change, nor should it be. Just enhance the thing cause people love them anyways.

My question/concern is that my harddrive is pretty loud when switching to other music and/or movies etc...You can hear the hitting on the harddrive, and no one else that I know has a new 120g version, is this common ? It just has that loud electrical hit to hit that has got me worried a bit and I've only had it for a month. Any feedback ???

Incredible
Got this for Christmas. I have no complaints for this whatsoever. It is probably the most user friendly device ever created. Now-a-days the technology is becoming more advanced, so sometimes things get alittle more difficult to work, breaks more often, etc. I have probably 450 cds I carry around in a cd case in my car. When I dont feel like listening to a certain cd anymore, I would reach around in my back seat and grab a new one, just to listen to one song most likely. Then I would repeat. You can imagine how tiring that must be. As many cds as I have, im still loading them onto the ipod since the day I got it (Christmas). I play the ipod in my car, listen to the song I want and then change it to another song when Im done. Instead of reaching back and forth changing a cd constantly. I am very satisfied.

P.S - My father even got one and can work it perfectly. So that should tell you something

10/10 - period.

Split Decision
The Ipod itself it the greatest mp3 player I have ever seen! It is well built, looks good sounds good, video looks great. The cover flow is the best upgrade, it is like flipping through albums in a record store for people old enough to know what I am talking about. This thing has enough space to store all the music you could ever want to listen to. It is small and light weight with excellent battery life. Perfect for traveling.

On the opposite side of the spectrum is what you have to go through to get music and video on the Ipod. I Tunes is an absolute nightmare! For a company with such a cult following I would have expected a much better interface. Just trying to get the music from your computer onto your ipod you first have to convert everything to their format,it took 2 days on my computer. Then search for album art that I Tunes can't find, and God forbid that you have compilation CD's with various artists on them. If you do you will have multiple entries of the same album for each artist so you have to go hunt down each entry and check the magic "part of a compilation" box that is a secret they don't tell you about. Then you will think like I did that you should just give up, throw in the towel and buy their music with more security on it that Ft. Knox and that that will fix everything. HA HA HA, the joke is on you. Their stuff is the hardest of all to get to first go on your Ipod then to keep it from being erased off of it everytime you sync it because it keeps telling you that your computer is not "authorized" to play anything that you just bought from I Tunes. So you keep entering your password over and over and over agin and it still won't sync your music and as an added bonus it removes the music from you Ipod that you previously got to sync to it. I understand the whole secured music stuff but when it gets to the point that you can't even use your Ipod enough is enough. If I am having this much problems with Itunes I can't imagine how people with limited coputer experience can get anything done. I give the Ipod itself 10 stars and I Tunes I give the finger!

A superior iPod!!
A great product. Initially challenging to set up. We had to search out information on Apple's website to find out how to use iTunes with multiple iPods in the family. You have to set up different Libraries for each user. I think this information should be enclosed with the unit to avoid frustration. My kids have different tastes in music, so even though we could have used one common Library for all, they don't want their siblings music synced on their iPod every time they plug it in.
It is easy to load videos and their favorite TV show episodes. All-in-all, it is quite user friendly.
