I opened and plugged in the player and loaded her favorite songs and such onto it. When I was done i tried it out and the songs would get about 3 seconds into playing then the player would freeze and only work again if you pressed the tiny reset button with a pin or something. I checked online and updated the firmware, this fixed the issue for about 20minutes and now it won't detect being plugged in and now is frozen and will not reset, even when I press the button. DO NOT BUY THIS. It is a horrible product and you're pretty much spending $80 on a pretty little paperweight. Date: 2008-12-26 Replaced my Zen Vision M After 3 years of 'abuse' my Zen vision M started giving out on me so I bought this little player. One of the major reasons I don't own an IPod is my Rhapsody to go subscription, I couldn't afford my music library if I was paying 99c a song for it. One of my biggest surprises was how TINY this player is compared to my vision M. I had no problems getting it to sync with Rhapsody, or putting songs on it (I have not used the creative sync software that come with it). The speaker function is useful - I can now use this at work without having to have separate speakers. The Pros: 1) Works with subscription services 2) Has the same easy to use software interface of other creative players. 3) It's TINY. 4) The speaker is a huge bonus. Things to note (neither pros nor cons): 1) Buy different ear phones - but that goes for almost every MP3 player on the market. 2) It doesn't have the touch scroll that I did like on my vision M, put I also figure that has something to do with it's size. The only three cons I have are (the top two are the reasons for only 4 stars): 1) The USB cable is only 6 inches long, However it's the same cord that I have a long version for my other zen and also for my blackberry, but you definitely need a larger cord to hook up to your computer. 2) There's no separate travel (wall) charger, If you don't want to always charge it at your computer, buy a separate charger (again my blackberry charger actually worked for this function). 3) The sound when plugged into my car's aux input is not as loud as my other Zen - however this is a small annoyance as it just means turning up my car stereo volume a little further. Overall it is a great replacement for my Vision M - and definitely not as much of a hassle to carry around due to size. Date: 2008-12-25 nots so great My fiance bought this for himself and it seemed cool at first. THe screen looks nice, and thats all I can think of that we liked. when we hook the player up in the car, it only plays out of one side. which is really really annoying. i know its this player, because we can use everyone elses' players and its fine. So...it might seem like a good deal, but remember: you get what you pay for... Date: 2008-11-20 Little, cheap, easy. I have the 8GB from Amazon and love it after a week. It's small and easy to use, and worked right out of the box on Vista. Just plugged it in and that was it. After reading some negative reviews on the creative software, I skipped it, and used MediaMonkey which I already had installed. Media Monkey and the Mosaic work perfectly. I mostly use this to listen to audio books and podcasts in the car, and a bit of music. The buttons are pretty easy to use, not as intuitive at first as spinning the Ipod wheel, but still pretty easy. You can easily customize the buttons (read the manual on CD) and menus to make things easier to use. To get the mosaic into the car speakers I bought a cheap sony cassette deck adapter for less than $15 here on Amazon. Together the two work like a charm. If you don't care that you don't have an Ipod, this isn't a bad way to go and saves you 1/3. Date: 2008-11-19 Completely Disappointed We ordered this to replace another Creative MP#, which never gave us any problems. This one was never recognized by the computer. No solutions from Creative website helped and neither did Creative. Save your money and time.... don't buy it!
