Create Custom Playlists on the Slacker site, or use the premade playlists. It refreshes itself automatically with new music every time you plug it in the charger...so youre never bored with the same old songs. The sound quality is very good (much better than sattelite radio) but the stock earbuds are cheap sounding (just like all stock earbuds) The battery life is pretty good , over 10 hrs.(Ive never actually timed it...could be more) Important note.. USB.. Ive had problems , and others have problems connecting the player to the internet using the USB connector. WIFI..Fortunatly the player connects perfectly to the internet through the WIFI , and the USB is not needed at all. Id say ..go to the Slacker Site and join for free. Mess around with all the playlist options ect. listen to the music online. If you like it...Buy the portable player. Date: 2008-12-31 What a piece of poorly designed junk!!! I am so scorned with this product. The only reason I got it was because I wanted a personalized satellite radio without paying another bill every month and based on such good reviews compared to the xm radios, I thought this would be a gift to have! Oh boy! Was that a crock! First when i turned the thing on, I kept getting a message on the screen saying "Your subscription expired 45/165 days ago". Now I've only been on the website once to just preview but I NEVER signed up with them for a free account, let alone a premium subscription. Next, I download the refresher software, after I let it charge for the 2 hours they've asked me to, I plug it in and it would not take, It said it would not configure or something like that. After that, I try to connect to the internet through the slacker to see if that would help, and after typing in the WEP key, CORRECTLY at least 20 times, it would not take and my key is MORE than valid. We tried everything from restarting the computer repeatedly to restarting the router. Eventually we gave up and declared that that must've been a crappy model and bought one from best buy. But that was just a waste considering that we ran into the same EXACT same problems as the previous one we bought. We went on the website and emailed the support team and even went on the forums for help. Turns out we weren't the only ones having trouble with this pedazo de mierda contraption. Many were at wits end like were. The support team said they would get back to us within one business day, that was Saturday, it's Wednesday today and I STILL haven't got so much as an email. My mother is hot(livid) right now about this, I'm just more disappointed than I've have ever been in my life. She spends over 400 dollars on this junk only to add more stress her. Nobody has that kind of money to just throw around and the support team doesn't even care. And one more thing, these tools don't even give you a REAL manual, it's a three step piece of paper. What. the. *beep*? If you are considering into this product, try hanging out at the forums first to see if this is really a good investment for you 'cause this gave us hell. Date: 2008-12-30 Hardware A, Software not ready for prime time. Pros: Great way to get a creative mix of music. Never get bored like my ipods. Great variety of music. Easy to use. 4 gig plenty big enough for my use. Outstanding packing. Great case. Cons: Sound quality is good but mp3s will not please the audiophiles. Plenty good enough for 95% of users. Software not ready for prime time. Lot of bugs on upgrades to premium, no Mac support, no Vista 64 support (they need another 2-3 months in this area) Difficult (impossible) to access wifi sites that require you to confirm click before access(i.e. most hotels). Date: 2008-12-27 At last! Songs I haven't heard before! Outstanding. Slacker's music service is constantly impressing me. From the free pricetag, to the hours of new music it's constantly providing. If you're like me and get sick of hearing the same songs over and over, this is the way to go. Date: 2008-12-21 BUY IT I'll try to keep my praise of this item simple. The best way for me to describe what the Slacker G2 does is to ask you to imagine an IPOD & a portable satellite (XM-Sirius) combined into one portable music player. It's similiar to an IPOD in size & the fact that you have SOME though not ALL control over the music it plays (via the "love it, hate it" buttons). It's similiar to a satellite radio system in that it plays a mix of music partly based on your musical preferences. If you are like me, I have 7,000 songs on my IPOD & scroll thru the thing like I don't wanna hear any of 'em. This is the answer, I am exposed for better or worse to tons of great new music. I've had this for less than 24 hours and I'm already discovering great new music. BUY IT.
