BoxWave ClearTouch Crystal™
For The IPod (Photo) 60GB
One of the worst things that can happen to an IPod is a scratch on the display screen. If you do not use some form of protection for your IPod's screen, a scratch is bound to happen. There are several screen protectors on the market but none can compare to the ClearTouch Crystal by BoxWave.
Although this review is on the IPod version of the ClearTouch Crystal, BoxWave provides versions for all forms of PDAs and handhelds.
Below are the main features of the ClearTouch Crystal display screen protector:

- 99% Visual Transparency
- Ultra-high Transparency Produces Vibrant Colors
- Sized to fit your Apple iPod Photo (60GB) touchscreen

The first thing I noticed when I opened the packaging of the ClearTouch Crystal was how nice and rigid the plastic was. I was skeptical and figured there is no way this hard plastic is going to stay stuck on the IPod's screen. My first assumption was definitely incorrect. In fact it is actually hard to remove once in place.
The product comes with the protector as well as a cleaning cloth and applicator. You use the cloth to clean your IPod's screen of dust and finger prints before applying. The applicator is used to remove any air bubbles that have become trapped. Although a credit card will do just fine.
Installing the ClearTouch Crystal screen protector was quite easy. You simply peel the tabbed plastic from the back of the protector and immediately apply to the screen of your IPod. If there are any air bubbles, simply use the applicator or credit card to remove them.
Although I was sure there was no dust in the air, the first time I applied the protector a few pieces of dust had gotten caught between the protector and the screen. The back surface of the ClearTouch Crystal protector is so sticky it is impossible to remove the dust particles off. In fact, if you try, you will simply just get more debris on it. The instructions do mention it can easily be cleaned and reapplied many times.
I removed the protector and per the instructions cleaned it with running water which indeed did remove all the dust particles. However, you have to air dry the protector and during this drying time, dust and lint seemed to come out of nowhere. It took me several attempts cleaning the product and reapplying before I was able to keep dust and other debris from under the protector. My advice is to be in a room that is dust and lint free as possible before applying this screen protector.
Once the ClearTouch Crystal screen protector is in place, it is truly amazing. There is no impossible to remove air bubbles caught underneath like you will get on most other protectors. In fact, if it was not for the extra plastic around the screen edges, you can not tell there is a screen protector installed.
Conclusion
Pros:
- Rigid plastic with no trapped air bubbles
- Amazing clarity
- Can be cleaned and reused
Cons:
- Easily catches dust and debris
In my opinion, the BoxWave ClearTouch Crystal is the best screen protector for the IPod. It is a bit pricey at $12.95 each, but it is definitely worth the price. If you do not currently have any screen protection or not happy with your current protector, I highly recommend you give this protector a try.
This screen protector will go quite well with the BoxWave's FlexiSkin case. You may be interested in reading our review on the BoxWave FlexiSkin case.
